Frequently Asked Questions...
No question is a silly question.
It’s not every day you book a wedding videographer to capture one of the most important days of your life - I totally get it. You want to feel comfortable and confident with who you choose!
Here are some questions I’ve been asked before, as well as a few I wish I had asked my own wedding videographer a couple of years ago. If only I knew then what I know now about how different each videographer can be!
Every wedding videographer brings their own unique skills, style, and approach to your wedding film - the key is finding the one who’s the right fit for you.
Questions
Can we choose the music for our feature film?
Answers
I carefully choose music that reflects the tone and style of your wedding day, using a licensed music platform that I subscribe to. I'm always tuned in to what’s playing in the background during your day, and I also ask for your favourite music tracks in the couple’s questionnaire (which you’ll receive the link to around three months before the wedding).
From there, I use your song preferences to find similar-sounding tracks on the licensed platform - this ensures your film stays legal while still reflecting your taste. I often select 2/3 tracks to match the different moods throughout the day.
I typically avoid using songs with lyrics, as I weav in live audio from your day - like conversations, vows, and speeches - to create a storytelling, cinematic film.
Note: The full first dance or aisle walk is not usually included in the feature film, so using the original tracks can sometimes feel out of place. However, the original audio (including key moments like your first dance or aisle song) is included in the raw footage provided in the Gold Package.
Why are your YouTube videos blurry?
YouTube often defaults to a lower playback quality to help videos load quickly. You can manually switch to 4K by clicking the settings/toggle icon on the video. That said, YouTube compression means the video will never look quite as sharp as the original. I deliver wedding films initially via Dropbox, and with the Gold Package, you’ll also receive a USB once you’re happy with the final films (highlight & feature).
Do you capture full conversations?
During the reception, I do capture natural reactions, laughter, and the general ambiance. However, recording full conversations would require guests to wear microphones, which can feel forced and unnatural. Alternatively, I’d have to film very close-up and ask any background music to be paused, which isn’t in line with my candid style. With the Gold Package, you’ll receive all the raw footage where you might be able to pick up some of those moments in full there.
